Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of an equilateral triangle with angles couped and sides concave divided into three horizontal parts, blue, white and red; surmounted by a gold Minuteman's head in profile all upon a gold laurel wreath overlapping at top; and enclosed at sides and top by a blue tripartite scroll inscribed "READINESS THROUGH TRAINING" in gold letters.

Symbolism
The modified triangle represents the cantonment area of Fort McCoy, home of the Army Reserve Readiness Training Center since its establishment in 1974.  The Minuteman and U.S. Army Forces Command colors represent the cohesion between U.S. Army Forces Command and the U.S. Army Reserve.  The organization's missions of readiness, academic and administration support are underscored by the three sections on the triangle.  The motto, "Readiness Through Training," indicates that through training provided by the Army Reserve Readiness Training Center, the U.S. Army Reserve is prepared and ready to perform its mobilization mission.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 October 1990.
